[email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Planning & Policy Hometown: Los Angeles, CA I felt interconnected with the location and environment of the HSU campus in regards to what I wanted to study. The commitment to staying as green as a 4 year institution could be really interested me and made me curious of wanting to find out more information. I wanted to expand my networking with other students who have similar interests in sustainability and eco-friendly projects, and most importantly wanted to to be part of a team that is student run and contributes to the school's green commitment/movement. |

I like the people and the connections I have made at HSU. I chose to be a part of Green Campus because I wanted to be more involved with school and do something that made a difference. GWA Jenny Turk [email protected] Major: Environmental Resources Engineering Hometown: Morgan Hill, CA I chose HSU because of the beautiful surrounding landscape and because they have a very good engineering program. As an environmental engineer I am committed to making the world a more sustainable place and I wanted to start first with the school. I chose to work for Green Campus so I could help make the school more sustainable and environmentally friendly! Housing Energy Harlo Pippenger [email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Energy & Climate Hometown: San Francisco, CA I have been involved with Green Campus for 3 semesters and I have greatly enjoyed contributing to the sustainability of our school. As an energy and climate major, I am passionate about finding ways to reduce the environmental impact of energy use. While new technologies can be effective towards this goal, our everyday actions with regard to energy and water use can often have a bigger impact. With everyone making small changes, collectively we can make progress towards solving larger environmental challenges. I chose HSU because of its strong environmental science program and access to beautiful nature nearby. What I like most about HSU is how forward-thinking it is in terms of sustainability. I think that Green Campus has a great mission of reducing energy and water use on campus. Working at Green Campus, I can make a direct impact on sustainability through interesting projects. As Housing Energy Analyst, I am working on a lighting retrofit project for the dorms. Outreach Abigail Lowell [email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Environmental Education & Interpretation Hometown: Menlo Park, CA I love Humboldt for its connection to this beautiful place, its plentiful open space, and its warm community. This is my first semester with Green Campus, and I joined to learn about, affect decisions, and spread awareness about sustainability at HSU. Daily habits really do make a difference ~ Carry a reusable water bottle! Take the bus, bike, or walk to school! Bring a coffee cup! |

Support Winessa Nartia-Stockart
Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Energy & Climate Hi, my name is Winessa Nartia-Stockart, also known as Winnie. I major in Environmental Science with an emphasis in Energy & Climate. I have been with Green Campus since Spring 2017 as a volunteer. I became the Support Coordinator for Green Campus last fall and graduating Spring 2018. What I enjoy doing the most is meeting, working, and collaborating with like-minded people to achieve the same mission – which is reduce energy, water and waste consumption. As the Support Coordinator, I am able to show this to people in a creative way through videos with Green Campus Productions. In these videos, we create film treatments, and this gives me the opportunity to direct and edit these films. Some of the videos include Power Down: Guerrilla Team, Green Speed Networking, Power Down: Creeper edition series, and a short film called “Fight the Power” for one of the Earth Week events. I am currently working on the Green Campus website, brainstorming for the next Power Down series, and filming our coordinators to show the university community that Green Campus does more than Power Down. I try to live my life as sustainable as possible with not only my major and a career that I am pursuing, but also with my lifestyle by being vegan. What most people don’t know is that animal agriculture has an incredible impact on our natural resources, including water and energy. In addition, animal agriculture contributes to air and water pollution, deforestation, and other impacts that worsens natural disasters of climate change in general. By letting people know or at least be mindful of what they eat, they can help save many lives, including theirs because a plant-based and compassionate lifestyle is something that we should all adapt to if we want to continue to protect this planet for all. Little actions will contribute to something bigger than ourselves, and I truly believe if we come together without any labels and misconceptions, there will be peace in ourselves and our home that we call Earth. Thank you. Peace and love, Winnie GWA Ty Muhovich Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Energy & Climate To sum up my life, I love petting dogs and combing goats at petting zoos. I’m also a coordinator for Green Campus, and I focus on coordinating a campaign called the Green Workplace Assessments (GWA). I love my job with Green Campus because I get to spend hours having fun (working..) with my fellow peers who are like-minded, planet saving energy geeks as well as staff and faculty members of HSU who care about the environment. I joined Green Campus to help spread behavior change to get people more environmentally conscious. I believe the projects and events we do have a significant impact on and off campus in regards to saving water and energy. While working for Green Campus I hope to decrease our greenhouse gas emissions and get more people involved in simple actions to reduce their own carbon footprint. During my year and a half with Green Campus I have learned how to design surveys, do energy calculations, and tricks while performing office audits to make them more successful. I have also come more out of my comfort zone when it comes to public engagement and speaking. These are just some of the few things Green Campus has taught me to make me more successful in my future careers.
