Position Description
For-credit interns work largely independently and each select an area of focus to learn about and gain applied experience in by working with student project coordinators on the semester's ongoing projects.
Interns have a flexible schedule, meet weekly with the team lead, and are encouraged to attend the club meeting on Fridays.
They turn in a progress report every month, a self-reflection and a digital portfolio at the end of the semester, and give a final presentation at the end of the internship.
The internship offers a 2 credit or 3 credit option. Interns who complete the regular check-in meeting requirements, complete the required assignments, and deliver a completed portfolio will earn academic credit for their work. 90 hours of work are required to complete the 2 credit internship, and 180 hours for the three credit internship. Working alongside Green Campus shows dedication and ability to work towards a goal; preparing you for any job after your work with us.

Kiara Cuerpo-Hadsall
[email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Planning & Policy Hometown: Stockton, CA Hi my name is Kiara Cuerpo-Hadsall. I am currently a senior majoring in Environmental Science and Management with a focus on Planning and Policy. I am from Stockton, CA, where the San Joaquin Delta first ignited my love for the environment. I have a huge interest in sustainable development in local communities and it is my goal to build more resilient communities through green infrastructure and sustainable choices. I believe this is best done at local levels and at home and, as of right now, HSU is my home. That is why I applied to be an intern with Green Campus, a group of like-minded individuals passionate about making HSU a more sustainable campus. I am excited to learn more about energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction as well as being involved in making a change in my community. David W. Grover [email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Planning & Policy Hometown: Kirkville, NY I was originally attracted to the area (landscape, etc.) & the university’s reputation for environmental stewardship, but have received much more through the ESM curriculum & from HSU’s ongoing commitment to comprehensive, student initiated innovations. I feel Green Campus is the best way to get real world experience, along with a chance to utilize some the comprehensive tools & knowledge I’ve acquired at HSU. Matt Hill [email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Planning & Policy Hometown: Boise, ID Hi, my name is Matt Hill and I'm a senior graduating this semester with a degree in Environmental Science and Management: Planning and Policy. I am from Boise, Idaho where I grew up hiking and playing in the foothills. I have always had a fondness for animals and nature, so when I came to Humboldt County I was overwhelmed by the grandeur and mystery of the Redwood Forest. My concern for the effects of climate change on our local and global ecosystems has set me on a mission to help HSU and Humboldt County become leaders in the movement for a more sustainable society. I decided to work as an intern at Green Campus to share my ideas about waste reduction at our school and work as a team to create real change at Humboldt State. I'm excited for a great semester and look forward to being part of Green Campus! Brady Wylie [email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Planning & Policy Minor: Watershed Management Hometown: Bakersfield, CA Hello, my name is Brady Wylie. Humboldt State University attracted me due to its strength in the sciences and concern for the environment. From an early age, I developed a passion for the outdoors, especially in regards to water resources. After graduating, I’d like to use my degree to help improve the condition of natural resources through sustainable practices and planning. I look forward to gaining knowledge and experience in the realm of sustainability through my internship with Green Campus. Mark Farrell [email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Energy & Climate Minor: Scientific Diving Hometown: Sacramento, CA The name's Mark, and I'm an Environmental Science major here at HSU. My role in Green Campus is to assist with the various projects we have in progress this semester and to help communicate sustainability principles in order to implement them as practices. In the long term, I hope to assist in spreading sustainable technologies globally and fight for the right of every human to have access to clean and renewable energy. Excited to start that journey here at Humboldt and continue the legacy of sustainability here on campus. |
