Spring 2019
Fall 2018
Megan Berg [email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Planning and Policy Hometown: Folsom, CA I chose HSU because of its perfect location, rainy weather, and the extensive science program HSU has to offer. Also, who doesn’t love the massive redwoods? I joined Green Campus because I liked the message that we preached and wanted to join a club that I could both gain life experience in and work towards igniting new positive habits within students on and off campus. From the group, I have learned so much more about what sustainability means and think that making small changes can do a lot for both the environment and peoples wallet. Because of Green Campus I could see myself in some sort of a sustainability job, maybe in sustainable agriculture. I would like to see Green Campus grow into a large well-known group on campus that has a good reputation for influencing simple earth friendly changes. I want to help make Green Campus grow! Jenny Hakala [email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Ecological Restoration Hometown: Nevada City, CA I've been with Green Campus 3 full semesters, going on my 4th! HSU cares about the environment and is well known for natural resource conservation, preservation and restoration. The community is sustainably driven, which is a major value of mine. And who could resist going to the ocean, river and redwoods all in one day? It’s a rad place to live and go to school! I first joined Green Campus as a volunteer intern to find those amongst my peers with similar concerns for the environment. In a short time I made many great connections, colleagues and close friends. I believe our companionship and motivation has been a determined force to encourage sustainable behavioral changes throughout the HSU campus. I’ve stuck around for the great people I work with and all the wonderful things we get to be a part of! Eduardo Valenzuela [email protected] Major: Environmental Science & Management Concentration: Planning and Policy Hometown: Fresno, CA My name is Eduardo Valenzuela but I like to go by Eddy, and I'm from the Central Valley. I chose to come to H.S.U. for its well known environmental program. I joined Green Campus last year because I needed an internship to fulfill a requirement for my major. Through Green Campus, I gained experience in public outreach and organizing events. Since the end of my internship, I decided to stick around because I believe in Green Campus's mission statement. I would like to continue to help organize events for Earth Week. I believe Earth Week is a great time to learn and educate others about sustainability and climate change.
