Water Extravaganza
PowerSave Campus held the Water Extravaganza event in order to highlight many aspects of water. We worked to make and display various visuals for students to enjoy; such as, posters, poster boards, informational handouts, marine specimens, etc. Also, different videos and documentaries dealing with water issues were played in the background.
Also during this event, PowerSave partnered with the City of Arcata who is also working to highlight several of these same topics! We were able to augment our visuals with great posters they had created to display during Arcata's Water Week in May, and give out several creative handouts dealing with issues important to the City of Arcata.

There was over 20 attendees and many great questions asked after the film. Many thanks to Jesse Dizard, for his efforts in educating the public about water scarcity in California.

World Water Day Festival: April 10th, 2012
This festival was PowerSave Green Campus (PSGC) first event of its kind and proved to be a great success! Water Awareness Speaker Panel: March 22nd, 2012
PSGC organized an awesome panel of local water experts from various backgrounds who shared their knowledge and experience about local water issues and water conservation. Students came to learn from these professionals about the water issues affecting our local watershed and what community members can do to help. Water conservation and water quality are huge issues in our modern lives- both locally and globally. The speakers were captivating and inspirational!

Spring 2011
Water Awareness Month
We hosted events and workshops to engage the campus community about water issues and water use. We held a rainwater catchment workshop at Campus Center of Appropriate Technology (CCAT). 21 people attended this event, including a half hour after the presentation to have an enthusiastic and passionate conversation about implementation of rainwater catchment systems in the surrounding community.
PSGC screened the movie Blue Gold which discusses the pressing issue of freshwater supply on our planet. We enjoyed the showing with tasty refreshments, HSU students greatly appreciated the information and were all are motivated to reduce their consumption of water so they may have the deserved access to fresh, sanitary drinking water.
Following all these compelling activities, we held a Water Panel with professionals from the community; Aldaron Laird representing Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District, Mark Baker HSU Professor of Political Science, HSU Head of the Environment and Community Master's program, and Beth Werner from Humboldt Baykeeper. These rousing and invigorating speeches led the way to transition into an avid group discussion about our lifestyles and the consumptive patterns we impart upon the Earth.
